The power of partnership – how collaboration drives sustainability in logistics
When it comes to meaningful progress in sustainability, one thing is clear – we can’t do it alone. At Green Leaves Logistics, we believe real impact is achieved when businesses join forces to align goals, share values, and take measurable action together. One standout example is our long-standing partnership with Insituform UK, pioneers in trenchless pipeline rehabilitation.
Collaborating with purpose
Insituform has always been a forward-thinking company. With a 50+ year history of innovation – including the invention of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) technology – they’re no strangers to solving problems in ways that minimise environmental disruption. Their trenchless solutions reduce the need for excavation, which cuts down on emissions and waste from the very start.
But their commitment to sustainability goes well beyond their core services. In logistics, a traditionally high-emission sector, Insituform have taken meaningful steps to reduce their environmental footprint – and they’ve chosen Green Leaves Logistics to help make that happen.
Sustainability through smart logistics
Our role in the partnership is to make sure every shipment is managed with sustainability at its core. From strategic route planning and customs clearance to coordinating multi-modal transport that favours rail over road, we’ve helped Insituform move complex consignments across Europe and beyond, while actively working to reduce the environmental impact of every journey.
Whether it’s last-minute storage solutions for site-based delivery delays or seamless airfreight of outsized items to Asia, the logistics challenges are many – but our shared values make the solutions simple.
“Having a partnership with Green Leaves to support our sustainable approach to freight forwarding across the world makes total sense – it’s a perfect relationship.”
Mark Bates, Managing Director Insituform UK
The results speak for themselves
In 2024 alone, our partnership with Insituform has delivered powerful outcomes:
• 31 shipments managed globally
• 217,145.20 kg CO₂ emitted
• 234,000 kg CO₂ avoided, resulting in a positive CO₂ balance of 16,854.80 kg
• 3,225 trees planted across four verified reforestation projects in Africa:
- 1,100 trees planted in Madagascar through Eden Reforestation
- 950 trees planted in Tanzania via the Plant to Stop Poverty project
- 1,025 trees planted in the Mau Region, Kenya
- 150 trees planted in Jabi-Tehnan, Ethiopia

Why collaborations like this matter
Sustainability isn’t just a trend – it’s fast becoming a requirement. Pressure is growing from every direction: legislation, consumers, investors, and employees. A partnership like this offers wide-reaching benefits:
- Regulatory alignment – supports Scope 3 emissions reporting
- Improved brand perception – from stakeholders to supply chain partners
- Value differentiation – standing out through environmental leadership
- Risk management – future-proofing operations against rising costs and carbon restrictions
It also speaks volumes to customers – that sustainability is more than just a box to tick.
Addressing the challenges together
Of course, making logistics more sustainable comes with its own hurdles. There are cost implications, operational complexities, and sometimes scepticism around changing what “works”. But that’s where we come in – offering low-emission alternatives, transparent reporting, and an approach that doesn’t require additional input from already stretched operations teams.
We bridge the gaps – using our own tools to provide measurable data, supporting Scope 3 reporting, and advising on the most direct, least carbon-intensive options available.
Looking ahead
Partnerships like the one we have with Insituform demonstrate what’s possible when sustainability becomes a shared mission. It shows that with the right support and strategy, logistics can become a force for good – not just an operational necessity.
If your business is looking to align logistics with sustainability goals, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s find the smart, low-impact path forward – together.
Each tree supports local communities, biodiversity, and long-term climate resilience.
“We are proud to celebrate Insituform’s outstanding environmental achievement. Their choice to lead with purpose has removed 234 tonnes of CO₂ through accredited carbon offset projects and planted over 3,000 trees. At Green Leaves, we’re honoured to support them on this journey.”
