ICS2 Expansion: New EU Import Controls for Sea Freight from April 2025

From 1 April 2025, the European Union’s Import Control System 2 (ICS2) will expand to cover all transport modes, including sea freight. This means that all businesses involved in shipping goods to or through the EU must submit an Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) with accurate data before arrival.

Who is affected?

• Freight forwarders

• Shipping lines

• Logistics providers

• Importers receiving goods in the EU

What needs to be done?

• Ensure all shipments to the EU have the correct pre-arrival customs data

• Update IT systems and staff training for compliance

• Register for a deployment window by 1 March 2025 if not yet ready

At Green Leaves Logistics, we’re closely monitoring these regulatory changes to ensure our clients’ shipments remain smooth and compliant. If your business relies on EU-bound sea freight, now is the time to prepare.
