Yet over the last 40 years, that rate of warming has accelerated to 0.32° F (0.18° C) on a decade-by-decade basis. Even though these figures might not seem significant on their own, it has led to a significant shift in accumulated heat.
This has affected everything from seasonal temperature extremes to a reduction in sea ice and snow cover. The cumulative impact of this also cannot be overstated, as it is changing the habitat situation for animals and plants.
